Job description

Our client from the UAE is planning to give birth to her second baby in Los Angeles, the USA. Consequently, she seeks an experienced, adaptable, and compassionate Maternity Nurse who will accompany her to the USA.

This is a temporary position, starting on April 15, 2024, with a three-month duration. The maternity nurse will stay with the mother throughout her childbirth, documentation process, and until her return to the UAE, around June 15, 2024. Subsequently, the maternity nurse will stay for a few additional weeks with the mother and the baby in the UAE.

The maternity nurse's primary responsibility is to ensure the mother and baby receive the highest quality of care, support, and guidance during their time abroad. The mother also has a 15-month-old baby, and as her current nanny is unable to travel to the USA with them, the maternity nurse may be required to assist with childcare. However, the mother will primarily focus on the 15-month-old, while the maternity nurse will attend to the newborn.

Responsibilities

Postpartum Care: Provide expert care to the newborn baby, including feeding, diapering, bathing, and soothing.
​Support for the Mother: Offer gentle guidance and support to the mother on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
Monitor Baby's Health: Regularly assess the baby's health, including vital signs, weight gain, and developmental milestones.
Create a Comfortable Environment: Ensure the mother and baby have a safe, nurturing, and comfortable living space during their stay.
Educational Support: Educate the mother on infant care, nutrition, and general well-being.
Collaboration: Work closely with any additional medical professionals involved in the care of the mother and baby.
Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of the baby's feeding, sleep patterns, and health updates.
Newborn Room: Responsible for the care and maintenance of the newborn's room.
Newborn Clothing: Handle washing and ironing of newborn clothing.
Childcare Assistance: When required, care for the 15-month-old child, especially when the mother needs to attend shopping or government offices.​​

Requirements

Proven experience as a Maternity Nurse, preferably with experience in traveling positions.
Certification in first aid and other relevant certifications.
Strong knowledge of newborn care and postpartum support.
Ability to work in a team with the mother and listen to her preferences, gently guide her without being overbearing.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion and patience in caring for both the mother and newborn.
Adaptability and flexibility.
Valid USA visa or the ability to travel to and stay in the United States during the contract period.
The maternity nurse should have self-employed status and the ability to invoice the client for their services.

Work conditions

Schedule: Temporary position with 24/7 childcare required.
Accommodation: The maternity nurse will have a separate bedroom close to the baby but will monitor the baby at night through a camera.
